What makes our Word Search Puzzle special?

• Customizable - Various options are available to customize the puzzle giving you control over the difficulty level of the puzzle and additional features:
  • Size - You may make the puzzle as large as you would like.
  • Word Direction - Do you want the words to go only down and right; go only up, down, left and right; or go all directions, including diagonal?
  • Overlap - Do you want the words to overlap when possible?
  • Bendable Words - Do you want to allow the words to bend in the above selected directions or only go in straight lines?
  • Secret Message - You may specify a secret message to be hidden in the spaces not used by the hidden words. There are several options to choose from for where the secret message will be placed.
  • Auto Generate Word List - Do you have a tough time coming up with a word list? No problem! Simply paste text from an article into the Auto Word Generator feature and it will build a word list from the article.
  • Do not Display the Word List - Add an even greater challenge to your puzzle by taking the option of not showing them the list of words that are hidden in the puzzle. You may still give them as much or little of a clue for what to look for as you want.
  • Sort Alphabetically - You may have a specific order you want your words to be listed, or with the click of a button you can have them sorted alphabetically. In either case, the words will be arranged in straight even columns taking the best advantage of the space beside your puzzle.
  • Allow Hints and Scramble? - You have the option of turning the Hint and Scramble features (as described below) on or off for your puzzles.
  • Customizable Color - You may configure your puzzle to use any color for the Ownership Button that appears at the top of the puzzle.
• Fun to Solve - Many features for solving the puzzle interactively makes it fun to do these puzzles (and saves paper too!)
  • Better Than a Pencil - The program colorfully marks hidden words as you select them by dragging the mouse, clicking letters, or using keyboard input. As you mark each word it is crossed off the word list for you.
  • Puzzle Sets - Any number of puzzles may be available at one time. See the Word Search Sample Puzzles page for a sample set of several puzzles.
  • Hint - Click the Hint button if you get stuck. The hint won't solve the puzzle, but will circle a letter of one of the words you haven't found yet.
  • Scramble - Click the Scramble button if you want it to generate a new puzzle using the same word list and options.
  • Added Reward when the Puzzle is Solved - Since you can only see the solution text when you solve the puzzle, this is extra incentive for solving the puzzle. Upon solving the puzzle, redirection to another web page, or simple solution text is a great way for puzzle designers to share information, educate visitors on a subject, advertise something for your company, or simply add some fun to your puzzle.
• Share Your Puzzles - There are many ways to make use of the puzzles that you generate with this program:
  • Solve Them on Your Computer - This program is complete with an interface so you can solve the puzzles on your computer without ever needing to print them out. Save on paper!
  • Put Your Puzzles on the Web - You may run your puzzle on your computer, but the biggest advantage of our Word Search Puzzle is when you share your puzzles with others by putting them on the web.
  • Insert Your Puzzles into Other Documents - Though there are many nice features to make it fun to do these puzzles on your computer or on your web page, the capability is provided for you to be able to insert your puzzles and even the full-color solution into another document for printing, e-mailing to a friend, or as part of a newsletter.
  • Print Your Puzzles to be Solved on Paper - And of course, you may also insert the puzzles into a document to be printed and solved the old fashioned way, with pencil and paper.
• Compact - Our Word Search Puzzle randomly hides the words in a very compact area, but still allows it to generate a different puzzle each time you scramble it.
• Doesn't Take Much Web Space - It only requires 100KB of web space for the program and about 30KB for each additional puzzle. See System Requirements below.
• Easy to Put Puzzles into Existing Web Pages - By copying the files to your web space and inserting only a few lines of code into your web page, you can add the puzzle to your existing web page. Updating is even easier. To update, you only need to replace one file that this program generates for you - no page changes are necessary!

System Requirements

Minimum System Requirements:

• Windows 95, 98, 2000, 2003, XP, Me, NT 4.0., Vista, 7
• Java Runtime Environment JRE 1.6.0 or later.
• Pentium 166 MHz or higher
• 60 MB of disk space if you also need to install the JRE, otherwise only 20MB are required for the Word Search Puzzle itself.
• A way to transfer your web page information to your web server, whether it is an FTP program or other utility provided by your web service provider.
• An HTML editor if you want to design your own page for the puzzle.

Web space:

• 100KB web space available, plus an additional 30KB for each additional puzzle you put in your puzzle set.
• The web server must allow serving Java applets.

The browsers that will be used to access your puzzle must have the following:

• Must have Javascript turned on.
• Must have Java version 1.1 or higher.
